Pregnancy Can Damage Memory

Women that being pregnant may have long felt and suspected, but recent research in Australia to prove that a baby can indeed cause a mother to be more easily forgotten.Through a study, scientists revealed that a woman’s memory can be disrupted at least until a year after childbirth. Although So also, the effects are minor and limited to tasks that are not uncommon.

“The decline in memory that many women experience during and after pregnancy as a simple reduction that you find when comparing the health of people aged 20 years with people aged 60 years,” said one researcher, Julie Henry.
Australian scientists have drawn the conclusion that this is the result of an analysis of 14 different research around the world. This research include testing of memory capacity of about 1,000 pregnant women, mothers and women who are not pregnant. From the analysis revealed that pregnant women have a significantly bad memory decline in some aspects of the test.

The most difficult test for women is associated with new tasks and difficult. ”The duties of a regular exercise and regular recall such as remembering phone numbers or family members not affected the trend,” said Peter Rendell, Australian Catholic University professor who conducted this research with Henry.

“However, the story will be different when you have to remember new phone numbers, names of persons or save a few important pieces of information as well as multi-tasking,” Rendell added.

Research published in the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology, also stated that the phenomenon is often called “baby brain” is still visible a year after giving birth. However, because no participants who were examined after the lapse of this period, investigators could not determine whether this disruption would be permanent. Scientists also wonder why a woman’s memory can be disrupted at a crucial moment like that.

“Although we have no experimental evidence for it, we thought this is a disorder associated with lifestyle factors,” said Henry, a psychology researcher from the University of New South Wales.
“During pregnancy, your normal routine disrupted and you may experience a sleep disorder after childbirth. We know from other research that one of two things can affect cognitive abilities, “explained Henry.
