LIFE household full of problems often invites stress. Not a few parents are now experiencing mental stress due to live load is very heavy. Unfortunately, the pressure experienced by parents can affect children. In fact, according to a study, the stress experienced by parents can cause children to become more susceptible to disease.
As revealed by the researchers from the University of Rochester through a study published the journal New Scientist, the level of child predisposition against diseases was relatively high in children whose parents experience depression and anxiety. Researchers also found a link between stress and the immune system in children.
It has long been known that stress can cause changes in the immune system and makes a person susceptible to infections and other diseases. However, research is also published in the journal Brain, Behavior and Immunity, is the first to prove that the problem of stress can be transmitted or spread from parents to children.
Led by Dr. Mary Caserta, research was conducted by monitoring 169 parents for about 3 years. The parents were asked to record cases of illness suffered by her children, and then monitoring is followed by a psychiatric evaluation for six months.
The results showed that the level or amount of disease was significantly higher in children whose parents experienced emotional stress at a high level. In addition, immune cells in the blood of the children were measured, and those who come from parents who stress showed an increase.
Researchers acknowledge that giving freedom to the parents to measure or record the cases of children’s disease can affect the research significance of the fact that parents are very anxious tend to record higher levels. Even so, researchers said the findings still indicate a strong relationship between stresses on parents with children’s health.
Meanwhile, Dr. David Jessop researchers from Bristol University stated the need to conduct long-term research in order to examine and measure how far the direct impact of stress and how children recover during the parents stressed the lighter.
According to him, the results of this research should not make the parents become worried, or even exacerbate the suffering and stress to those who were experiencing.
¨ the question is when the stress is eased, if the immunity of their children will return to normal or they were afraid of living? I believe children can be so resilient and they have systems powerful enough to handle it. Although it is good research, the parents should not be too worried, ° said Dr. Jessop.
